    ive always struggled to determin the colour of exhaust smoke

    but if i had to say

    i'd say black

    it was low about a month ago but i only topped it up to the middle of the dip stick levels

    yep black is OK, that is the result of normal combustion, but if lots of it on idle then you are burning too much fuel and wrecking the cat
