    Poor fuel consumption?

I drive a '95 Astra 1.4LS and had it bout a month. Not some Long ago I put 25 quid in when it was practically empty and started my odometer from 0 to see what i got out of it as I was concerned. Turns out I only got around 185 miles off that which to mean seems quite little compared to what I have driven before.

Can anyone else tell me what they think or what they get out of theirs and if this is low what might be the issues. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. New here.

My Mk 4 2002 1.8sxi gets about 260 to £40 at the moment, equates to around 30mpg predominantly in town driving and short runs.

My old 1.6 mk4 2000 used to get 28-29mpg on the same runs...

What kind of driving are you doing...?

Predominantly around town at the moment. I dont drive quickly anymore. Stick mainly to the speed limits and not accelerating pretty quickly. I had a 306 1.9 diesel before which would do about 550 to a 60 quid tank. Maybe I am comparing it to that?

Sounds about right for a 1.4 with these current fuel prices

Yeh, never compare petrol to diesel for comsumption, Diesel will most times be better than petrol!
Disclaimer - some of the above text may actually be sarcasm (believe it or not!)
