This is the story about an old postal car.
I think the finnish post has a 5-year lease contract on their cars, afterwards they're sold dirt cheap.
I bought mine back in 2005, MY1999 with 70.000km (43400 miles) on the clock.
The exterior was full of dents and other minor mishaps, and the interior looked like an axefight battlefield.
It served as a workhorse for a year, only to be parked in a garage for the next three years, unused.
I could have sold it, but nobody really wants these, because of the horrible postal-yellow color, RHD (we have LHD in Finland), lack of rear seats (being registered as a van), 1.6L 8v engine, and basically no equipment at all.
So it waited, until ideas started forming in my head.
So I started fulfilling the ideas with help from a friend or two:
BTW I didn't even know there is a 3-door van-version of the Astra G before I built this one. I got the idea from my old 1969 Opel Rekord Delivery.
It was then painted, matt black (and satin black here and there).
I got a set of Compomotive FH's, 6.5x14" ET16 with 155/55 tyres. They were way too small, I would have to lower the car a good 90mm for it to look good, and 90mm was just about my ground clearance. So they had to go.
New wheels, Fondmetal 7.5x16" ET30 205/45, with 15mm spacers on the rears.
Also roofrack, rear light tinted red, rusted bonnet, and -40mm springs. I might get coilovers later on, depending on what wheels I put on it.
The most recent mods are yellow-tinted foglights, half a front spoiler and new mesh for front bumper, and airvent-windows for the left side. I had no visibility to the left, thanks to the welded up windows and useless mirrors. Fixed!
And I also got a set of Ronal turbo Phase 1's, 7x15" ET25, should get refurbed and polished once I find the time.
