    Loss of Power.

Been viewing forums for a while but first post so far :P

Anyway I have a 1998 astra g which very recently lost most of its power and flat out would reach a measly 65. It was also misfiring and felt very lumpy to drive with zero acceleration.

I've just changed the spark plugs after some advice from a mate and the cars stopped misfiring but still has little power (more than before but still pathetic). Any ideas what might be wrong? Theres no visible damage under the hood or car and no warning lights.

    Any advice would be fantastic.

Welcome to AOC. Have you have a code reader plugged into it? If not could be worth doing so, or do a search on here for 'the paper clip test'. Might have an error code stored on the ECU.

    What engine is it?

Does this engine have an EGR valve? If so then it's a likely culprit, it can cause problems like yours without throwing the engine management light on.

I wouldn't know tbh. Whereabouts is the EGR valve or any idea how to go about finding out. I'm in my car so i can do any checks needed.

The EGR valve on mine is located right of the main engine block, (with cover removed)
    its a tubular looking thing.

i also had this problem and i cured it after replacing the EGR, spark plugs and coil pack

Just done the paperclip test on my car and no flashes came up.

Am I right in thinking that the engine management light is the one in the center between oil and battery and looks like an engine with a spark in it?

Thanks for the quick replies btw. Appreciate any help
