    Remote central locking

    Hi Guys,

Don't know if i've posted this in the wrong area but my central lockings stopped working, or when it does work its intermittent.

The lights are still lighting up on the keyfob but the doors aren't locking/unlocking.

Quite annoying as you get out the car, slowly walk away thinking its going to lock, then you look like a tit having to walk back.

Are there any known issues with astras and the RCL as I only got it a few days ago, Any advise is appreciated.

(There was a problem with the RCL before I bought it but the guy said the keyfob got reprogrammed).

    Cheers

Does the central locking work manually (from the door) and have you replaced the battery in the key?

It does work from the lock itself ye.

I havent changed the battery as the light comes on on the keyfob everytime without fail.

I mean i've even stood right next to the car.

Its so intermittent, It would like work when I get in my car to come to work, then get out my car and work and not work, Kinda annoying lol..

I would still change the battery in case it has enough juice to light the LED on the key but not send a signal.
Do you have a spare key? If so then try that to see if that makes a difference.
If that fails, you may need to speak to Vauxhall and make sure the key is programmed correctly.

Here's what worked for me - I had exactly the same problem. Get in the car, put key in ignition and turn it so that the engine does not start but the dash lights up. Within 10 seconds of doing this, press the button on the fob (can't remember which, but come on there's only 2!) and all the doors should lock for a second and then unlock again.

This resynchronizes the fob with the car, and as long as your battery in the fob is pretty full, it should work and stay working. Let me know if this works for you, and then I can get the satisfaction that I did my good deed for the day

Yeah defo change the battery, uses very little power to light an LED compared to sending a radio signal up to 20 odd feet...

Get a decent one too not just poundland rubbish... It also wont hurt putting a bit of paper between the inside of the key and the battery when you put it together, the battery holders tend to seperate from the circuitboard over time so it may save having to do a repair in future...

When you're changing the battery, have a look where the battery holder connects to the pcb, as the solder joints can crack.
