    Anyone else pre-ordered a PS3 slim?

Have been thinking about getting a PS3 for a while now as I'm getting fed up with my 360 and it's beginning to make a racket now so expecting the dreaded red ring very soon.

Saw that there is a new slim line PS3 coming out on 1 Sept so have just pre-ordered with GAME for £249.99. Pretty happy with that considering its meant to be better than the original and they have held there price pretty much since coming out.

in no way am i getting into any kind of flame war or fan boy war or what ever kind of console war here but i would recommend holding onto your xbox 360 too, i was getting high holy bored of my 360, suddenly a lash of my mates have invested in one as their social lives have been drasticaly limited over the recession and cant go out all weekend anymore and we all meet up one or twice a week online to play PGR4 or COD:WAW or HALO3 and just have the general chat whilst playing...good craic...i spose what ever system is most popular amongst your mates is the key to that scenario working out but I'm after getting very impressed with my 360 in recent weeks all over again

Its a good deal. Heard on the news that console sales are low at the moment so they are being reduced. And Sony and have now bought this slimline one and reduced the price to try and get some more sales.

In terms of online play the PS is completly free if you already have wireless internet, unlike the XBOX live Silver and Gold which you pay for. And theres plenty of people on here with boths consoles.

I won't be trading my classy looking original shape PS3 in for a cheap looking xbox-like slim PS3.

Good idea to make it consume less power etc but I don't feel the need to replace my original.

Whilst this topic is here, I thought I'd let you know that the 80Gb "big" PS3 will have around £80 slashed from it's price with immediate effect and also the Xbox price will INCREASE by approx £30.

So, Sony will reduce the price of the PS3 and Microsoft will increase the price of the Xbox.

PS: PS3 Firmware 3.00 will be released with the "slim" goes on sale.

You can have old ps3's hard drives changed, all you need is a screw driver and a 250gb hdd for £50.

The idea would be to wait till the old ones drop massively in price and buy a 40gb one and change the hard drive! (at least thats what im doing!)
Everything I do has total support of my wife ...... which is nice!

    I got 2nd hand PS3. I basically traded in my xbox360 for ps3

Then replaced the hard drive in my laptop and then used my old laptop drive and replaced the ps3's hahaha.
