i have a bertone coupe convertable and bought penta alloys with 225 40 tyres on and they catch the side arches.do you think 215 35 tyres would stop this happening also someone suggested spring assists

as far as i know 225 tyres are the correct size for a mk5 but to run the pentas on a mk 4 you need to be running 215.

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

    Yeh you need 215/35!

I ran 225/40 on my 18s for a while and it destroyed the arches

i run 225 35 18's they rubbed big time and i believe et is casue of my problems too. I just took a stanley knife to the arch lining and its done the job.

its the back thats the problem mate front is fine the tyres catch the side arch when hitting pot holes or sudden shocks and it cuts the tyre walls and bends the arches outwards i had the push them back in.

on 18" go for 215/35 and your problems should go away. An et47 will sit in a lot further than et37

cheers mate did you get your arches rolled to fit 20s on it got good 7mm dunlops allround on the pentas might be cheaper to get the arches done than buying new tyres dont like cheap tyres.
