Thumbs Up windscreen replacement, wat have you paid?

My screen has been buggerd now for a couple of months and have just spent 5 minutes ringing around to get quotes,
rang auto glass first and they quoted me £218, i nearly fainted!!
then rang a mobile company called auto windscreens and they said £139, about what i expected to be honest, then i tried a local company here in kings lynn called A10 windscreens and they said they can doit for £92, bit of a result! just amazed that out of 3 companys there could be such a difference, just gos to show that it pays to call around first!
now on my 7th vaux and its a van baby!!!

had similar thing when g.f had windscreen changed on her KA, autoglass wanted near £300 to change the screen, which we kindly told them where to go.

was having a chip repaired on the astra, was talking to the guy (national mobile windscreens), and asked what sort of cost it would be for them to replace it. he got on the phone and spoke to someone at their offices, quoted £80 to supply and fit the screen which we thought was a great price. he did the job as a private one, so it didn't go through his company, came round one saturday afternoon when he wasn't working and fitted it then, took him hour tops!
Astra sold ... replaced with a Skoda ... soon to be replaced with another Vauxhall

have you looked at getting it done thru insurance? normally a chip is free and a windscreen's about 50-70 quid and doesn't affect you NCB?

As soon as I heard the 200 part when I called autoglass,I hung up and tried another place, they wanted £150(thats what autoglass charge for a drivers window!!!).Headed up to get the windscreen done, but there was only one guy working there,he told me to head home and he would do it after work for £100

Ive no idea how much autoglass where gonna say,two hundred and,was enough for me to hang up the phone, way too expensive!
