    mileometre light...

    Hey all.

I started my car this morning, looked down to see what the milage was, and I couldn't see nothing.

Thought the milage counter had completely died
But I got into it this afternoon, and the sun was shining onto the speedo area, and I could see the number were there, just not lit up...

could someone possabley give me a clue or a "to check" list on how to get it lighting up again?

or is it a case of finding out how to rip the dash board apart to change a bulb?

    Cheers

If youve never removed the instrument binnacle before then you will struggle as theres a knack to getting the clocks out past the steering wheel!

check out the info in this guide and u should be fine

    It's a diffused 509T bulb.

    Hey Oddjob,
They seem to be the bulb for the speedo rather than the one for the mileage.
Well its different on my car anyway (Astra Coupe Mk4 1..
On mine the bulb for the mileage is a flatter bulb with a grey holder whereas all other bulbs on it are the 509T with an orange holder

Also, what are "conversion" kits like?

I've seen some on ebay, that change the colour of the "lighty up bits" these any good?
Also, can you change the faces to white?

As I've got the clocks out, I fancy doing some tarting!

The bulbs in the speedo are all 509T bulbs, the mileage one is slightly different in that it has a small diffuser fitted onto the bulb so it doesn't hotspot on the mileage screen. It's still a 509T bulb though.
