    soft sump bolts

i managed to round the bolt on my sump today. masivly annoying as its currently full of oil system cleanser and shouldnt realy be driven around but im going to have to get it sorted at a local garage or im car-less.
i know that you'r supposed to change them every time you do an oil-change but they are a bugger to get hold of and i'v changed the oil every 5kmiles without changing the bolt so its only realy my fault.

its just abit annoying that vaux cant make a bolt made of tougherstuff then that. or atleast make a sump that has a stick out bolt not a flush one so they are easy to change once the are rounded.

    rant over

Yeah when i did an oil change on mine, i found that it was very soft. Had much bother getting the damn thing off too. I think the recommended torx bit on the how-to guide on this forum isn't the right one. I had the same problem with the pollen filter change IIRC (incorrectly recommended size of tool). Picked up the correct size from Halfords at a silly cost & it came off no bother then.

    All is not lost mate

Get a hammer and chissel, make an indent on the sump nut, with the chissel, enough to make sure the chissel sits in good and give it a proper sharp tap and it will come off

Timax do replacement sump nuts that protrude rather than sit flush aswell

Or you could always weld a nut on it!

For those who lower to the limits, i'm pleased it sits in as well as it does, ive completely flatted one right off before with it scraping the floor, was a pain to get it out

If it stuck out much further it would smash the sump, which also happened when i had the 1.8 engine in.
