    Burning oil smell

I have a Zaf GSi and I can smell burning oil through my vents when stationary. I have checked and cleared my crankcase pipes. Now I did find a slight oil leak coming from the oil return from the turbo so I removed the oil pipe bought new bolt and washers and a gasket where it meets the turbo but it still has a slight leak. Just wondering if any kind of instant gasket would be ok to use aswell as the original gasket to make sure it doesn't leak again.

Had "what I thought" problems with the oil return pipe myself. We changed it about three times the return pipe included! Never went away, until we put a new turbo on. Turned out to be the turbo leaking through it's seals!
    Now it's all fine.

    Hope this helps.

Have you got the return pipe with the rubber or the one with the metal spring? Is the seal correctly installed?
Because you mention that you only replaced the bolts and the seal it's maybe better to fit a new return pipe also (the old ones tend to leak! There's a field remedy for it on EPC for the dealers). Remember if you decide to change the return pipe also buy a new gasket!

Is your engine been checked for it's oil pressure? Some engine blocks have a tendency to have a higher oil pressure which causes this. Don't be shocked by what Opel quality managers say about this: just change the engine because there's no other solution (they tried everything beforehand). We now of such one case here in Belgium where they actually changed the engine under warranty. Everything is fine now.

Is your car tuned? To what spec? Phase 3.5 from EDS/Regal tends to "eat" turbos.

If its leaking with a new gasket fitted maybe the facings are marked,, use silicon instant gasket on both sides of the gasket aswell ..might fill any marks..wont do any harm..

My first one that went broke was the complete metal one where you see a spring. They are revised a few years back and are now made of a large piece of rubber instead of the spring.
    It's the same part number.
There's a field remedy for the dealerships for this.
