THE STATEMENTS MADE ABOVE ARE MERELY MY OPINION AND SHOULD NOT BE INTERPRETED AS STATEMENTS OF FACT UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED
Well this morning it worked, was a ford focus engine that appeared to be missing a piston... had con rod and gudgeon pin... and still managed to run apparently
WHAT THE BLODDY HElL !
Back in an astra and loving it
It's been deleted as it (the fault) is currenlty under investigation by Ford Warranty !
The original poster is an editor of a VW mag, so he has no reason to bullsh¦t.
Basically it's a 1.4 Focus that has been running fine, then had problems.
Taken to the dealer for a look, a spark plug broke, so they had to take the head off, and low and behold there was a missing piston.
The original poster has had a few emails mentioning that it has happened before, but as said it's being investigated. !
Sorry I dont think this is a true story at all. It might have melted a piston but there is no way it has come from the factory like this.
OK lets say it the car does 200 miles per week (just a guess) and lets say the car does 30mpg
that means in a week there would be 6.6 gallons of petrol going through the car. Divide that by 4 as there are 4 pistons. That means there is about 1.65 gallons of petrol going straight in to the oil.
Thats is about 7.4l of fuel going down in to the block. car holds about 4l of oil. there is no way that car whould last a full year with out the oil coming out of every hole possible
White is the new Black
LEH IS THE FUTURE
Does sound a bit weird shame we wont see the outcome
