id say your probably running to much power for it,theyre not really built to handle much more than std vxr power 240hp

wouldnt it be best to run it in on lower power then build up to stage 3.5?

there are hundreds of cars running over 240bhp with no issues at all. they are good for 300+ if looked after.

Id say your talking nonsense. Im running 300bhp on one and have done for over a year. As have more than a few other people.

Largely, poor fitment leads to early failure.

In my opinion VXR turbo = poor, bearing is absolute rubbish.

These, 'well its lasted a year and still good' doesn't really mean anything, how many miles has it covered in a year? What some do in a year, others will easily cover in a month, simple as.

If you want a good, reliable turbo thats good value for money get a garrett - prefferably ball bearing and a manifold to suit.

All these KKK turbos are crap and damn expensive for what they are in my opinion.

I think also what will come to play in the turbos life, despite what the power of your engine is, will be how often your giving it some, the longer you thrash it the harder the turbo has to work which causes more heat aswell and the turbo suffers more on the standard coolant setup due to the more or less non-existant waterflow through the turbo.

I'm not saying for a minute poor fitment isn't the cause of many failiures because chances are it is, what i am saying is the turbo is cheap and nasty to be fair and i wouldn't expect any of them to last that well if you drive abit enthusiastic from time to time.

Dave you might be able to run 300hp using one but its not designed for that much hp as std and my betting is it wont last half as long as running std power through one......a year is nothing these turbos should do 70k+ running 300hp through one id be surprised if you made 40K without needing a new one.

My brand new VXR turbo lasted a week on Stage 3.5.
Its the thrust bearings that are the weak link.
Mine ate itself, so i got it rebuilt with an uprated 360 bearing to take the 23psi overboost (bearing should allow close to 28psi now).
Standard bearings can just about take 20psi (or many less i'v heard), so they rip to shreads.

You'll prob need a new core now though
