Question My local Vauxhall dealer's views on a VXR

Went into my local garage today for an idea on servicing the car when it arrives.

Whilst I was there I thought id ask about whether they could tell me the situation regarding mods and the warranty.

They told me any mod mechanically would void the warranty. Which i guessed anyway.

What i was told next didn't sound right though. The mechanic went on to tell me that the VXR engine was on it's limit power wise any that no more is available from it. Any performance mod will result in definite turbo failure within a 1000 miles.

Now am i right in thinking this bloke didnt have a clue?!

When you read on here how many turbos need replacing on the VXR engines kinda makes it believable in a way, he could have a point! Jx

    He may do.

But included in his lost of "turbo destroying mods" were different exhaust systems. Surely that cant kill a car!

power upgrades shouldnt be first on the agenda anyway

handling must be ur main concern if and when the time comes

rear ARB and springs and then youve got a good base.

I was just asking in general. As said he explained any mechanical change is a warranty no no. I assume this includes springs then!

yeah according to his theory then yes all mods would void it....although i was under the impression it was just mods that were directly related to the part u were claiming against etc...

he does seem to be a bit mixed up shall we say with his information lol

I think your right there GB!

And Jayne odd seems the right word.

It has made my mind up about one thing. I don't think that particular garage will be working with the car.
