    Astra MK5 Cig Lighter

The Cig Lighter in my Astra does'nt seem to be controlled by the ignition, so when I say have a Sat Nav connected and pull in and take the key out it is still live.

Is there anyway to have the cig lighter power outlet power off when the ignition is off ?

There's a switched feed taped up to the wire under the accessory socket. It's a smaller plug however, so can't be changed for the one already there.

You could, but you'd have to do a bit of jiggering and soldering

Yeah with a bit of cutting and soldering the accessory socket could be made ignition fed just remember not to draw to much current from it though

Actually the 3rd plug (the black one) isn't a switched ignition one but becomes live when you turn the lights on. I assume it's for the lit ring for the ciggy lighter. So will fit a manual switch to the perm live of the socket.

Hmmm, mine's a 54 plate but with the accessory socket and tray, but there's definitely no voltage on that pin when the ignition or engine is on, but flick on the lights and there's the 12V. The accessory socket +ve is live all the time.

Basically what I want to do is directly connect my Garmin to this and also have the socket available to charge a phone etc and hide the cables behind the dash.

Is it just a simple case of connecting the pos to pos etc etc and putting an inline fuse in place ?

So when I switch off the igntion the GPS shuts down
