Lowering my car - MPG quote

ok, so im looking to lower my car but do it properly with coilovers and the like, i dont know much about suspension.

so i phone up mid pooint garage to get a quote for lowering my car and using coil overs and an additional price for fitting my weicher strut brace thats been sat in my garage for a year.

i said it wanted lowering to a good level, not too low it may present problems, but say 40mm

the quote sent via email is as follows and this is with club discounted labour.

    HI,
THE PRICE TO FIT YOUR STRUT BRACE IS £ 57.50 INC VAT
THE PRICE TO SUPPLY AND FIT SET OF EIBACH LOWERING SPRINGS (LOWERED BY 30MM, THESE ARE THE ONLY ONES LISTED FOR THE ASTRA COUPE TURBO)
    IS £ 274.25 INC VAT.
IF YOU WANT TO GO ANY LOWER THEN YOU WOULD NEED COIL OVERS.
so the lady has priced for lowering springs only and not said anything about coilovers, and its at 30mm.

the price i think is extortionate for just springs, the strut brace looks to be 2 hours labour cost, i thought this was a 30 min job for a tuning expert.

do these prices look right to you?

and if so where should i go to get a 'fair' price.

i was gonna ask MPG to supply and fit a whiteline RARB, but im afraid the price would scare me lol.

so for coilovers and lowering springs, is this what i should get?

    JAMEX Coilover Suspension Kit

their was a set that was £158 by jamex but it didnt mention the word coilover.

as i said, i dont understand suspension systems much, im a book worm with other stuff for the car, like turbo, exhaust, air induction and so on, but suspension, forget it.

    Hi there guys,

please bear in mind that the wheels have to be alligned after fitting either springs only or coilovers. That + labour costs will get you to the price they mentioned. Not that bad if you ask me... but then again I don't know what the prices in the UK are, and this will vary per workshop.

    Hope this helps!

    Brgds,

    Paul

i doubt mpg included wheel allignment in there quote - they are coilovers that you linked to, the £158 ones would prbly be shocks and springs
