    Irmscher Exhaust Fitting Question!

    Basically,

Im after an Irmscher Backbox, see na few on the bay, but alot of them have come from 2.0 sri's etc. My car is a 2001 1.6 16v SXi, and the ones there coming from are the same sort of year, just different engine sizes. Both seem to be flange fitment, so would this still be fine on my car?

Also anything to look out for on a second hand one? Obviously condition reflects the wear etc, but anything else I should be asking?

Cant justify the cost brand new, and second hand will do me as long as its reasonable condition.

    Thanks

Shoudl fit OK, they were more or less a univeral fitment.

The only differences are if your centre section has a sleeve or flange fitment but gig by the year of your car I would say it is flange fitment. You can easily find out by peeking under and looking to see if has a u shaped clamp bolt for sleeve fitment or two strair bolts for flange fitment

Yeah mine is the flange, and looking on LMF as long as its not one of the diesels or the Z20 engine, it should be the same. So i will prob keep an eye on the bay now, or try my vauxhall breakers. As long as it will last for a while!

all the non turbo pertrols have the same bore of exhaust so any backbox from a 1.4 to the 2.0 would fit
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

the hatchback style irmscher backbox with two bolt flange fit will fit any of the hatchback astra range from 1.4 upto 2.2 that already have a flange fit, irmscher also supply a flange sleeve to modify if you don't already have a flange on you middle section. just be aware that alot of the irmschers on Ebay do not have the flange on them as they rot and most people chop them off when taking these backboxes off their cars and check the condtion of the pipe that the flange fits on as they rot heavily too
