These fault codes appeared... any help much appreciated

Recently my Astra 1.7DTi Mk4 has been displaying the ‘spanner’ symbol on the dash. The spanner symbol only seems to come on when the engine has been running for a few minutes, and sometimes it doesn’t come on at all. The performance of the car seems fine (to me). I’m still getting 45mpg urban and there are no ‘performance’ issues as far as I can tell.

So I did the ‘pedal test’ the other day. Turned the key 2 notches and kept my feet on the gas and brake to read all the codes.

I also filmed the flashes with my mobile to double check the codes.

After turning the key the spanner symbol displays constant…it then flashes as follows…

    1…1…10…5…10…3…7…10…10…5…7…1

Using my laymans knowledge I’m interpreting these flashes as the following codes:

    1105, 0370, 0571

Can anyone advise on what may be wrong with the car and the next step(s) I should take?

    Many thanks.

Hey thanks for the quick reply!

If it's any help, my NSR brake light is also not working - could that be connected to code P0571?

What sort of work/price am I looking at to rectify these faults? Are they serious?

well tbh mate I couldnt answer any of the questions, but try the brake light 1st as you need it working anyway and that may resolve P0571

I checked the brake light bulb - it wasn't visibly blown. I changed it anyway, but the fault still appears!

The fault codes will still appear if they havent been cleared.

This either needs to be done by a code reader at a garage or the cheap way by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes then reconnecting it and trying again..

you can also disconnect the ECU for about 10mins, this means you save your radio/clock settings etc

I suppose you can clear the fault codes temporarily with a variety of methods, but the actual engine faults could still be there? Or do the codes re-appear after a bit if the faults havn't been solved?

Would only Vauxhall know EXACTLY what these fault codes are referring to on the engine? I mean some of these codes are quite 'broad' and vague and won't it only be a main dealer who can get straight to the exact problem in the shortest possible time?
I know Vaux charge about £70ph for 'labour', but do you think they will get to the root of the fault codes/problem quicker than any other garage?

I'm just trying to get the cheapest solution!

    hi all,

    Can anyone help me?

I'd just want to know where a good place would be to go and resolve these faults in my car? Is VX the only place for a quick and efficient job?

    Thanks
