    Astra 1.7 (06) CDTi Cam Belt

    Hi Guys,

    I need to get my Cam Belt replaced on My Astra 06 plate 1.7 CDTi, I have just been quoted £210 + Vat is this a good price ?

    Or do you think I could do the job myself

    That does sounds like a good price to me. Only attempt it yourself if you really know what you're doing - it's not a job that you'd want to get wrong!

    I have done a few mechanical things but never a Cam Belt change, so I guess its best to send it to the garage

    It's not an easy job as the high pressure pump needs to be timed along with the two cams. Let the garage do it.

    I changed my belt and the pump timing was out before i started the job.So i rang the dealers who was the last place to take it off.
    They said it didnt matter about the pump timing becuase its a common rail diesel
    wtf?
    Better to change the tensioner as well
    You cant get the timing wrong if its all pinned up into place.
    But if you dont fell confident to do it let someone else do it who knows what there doing
