Another fault code thread - P0420

Apparently this is the problem after doing the pedal test:

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

Does this mean the first 02 sensor (precat) is dead? I did have a blowing turbo downpipe join which brought the eml on but I fixed this about a month ago and the eml went out (it was different codes last time)

    Any ideas?

personally id just clean the sensor - whack in some good fuel - maybe a good additive and then give it a good drive (some say thrashing but not a phrase i like to use lol)

Ive had this code in the past but just deleted it and did the above

hmm, maybe its worth putting a new sensor on it as I know the thread isnt to great on the sensor (from when I removed it from the original precat) I have a feeling if I remove it from my decat the thread will be totaly knackered.

Could it have anything to do with the enlarged inlet pipes I fitted yesterday? seems strange how this fault has popped up after doing it. I have double checked connecters and plugs in the bay to make sure nothing was knocked loose but its made no difference.

if the code went out after you fixed the problem a month ago then chances are this one is unrelated, it will be related to something you have just done, however dont be hasty changing sensors are you able to delete the fault code? if so delete it and see if it comes back on with normal driving

Very common fault on cars with sports cat fitted - more so on 100 Cell cars

I do have a 200 cell sports cat, been fitted since jan this year so around 7 months trouble free driving with it.

I will disconnect the battery to clear the code and see if it comes back on (I reckon it will)

It could be the larger airpipes. What map are you running and what injectors and afm?
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!
