Drivers Window with mind of its own.

    1999 Astra 1.4 16v 135k miles.

My car has developed a personality, an annoying one.

Lately, wit the weather being so nice, I like to lower my drivers window to let in a cool breeze - however everytime I turn the steering wheel 1 rotation, the window goes back up.

One useful thing though is that if I have the window down stop the car and take the keys out the ignition - the window goes up by itself.

Has anyone got any ideas where I start looking for a problem before I start taking the door panel apart.

    Many thanks

i would say the latter issue is more likely a dodgy window switch - so no need to take the card off!

the initial issue regarding the steering part is more likely a very common one - it happens on mine and i put it down to the intense drain on the battery/alternator that the PAS has and that causes a negative effect on the window operation.

Price of a drivers window switch should only be a few quid so definitely worth trying

Random suggestion, but hows the battery condition? Could be on its last legs maybe?

    Thanks Guys.

New Battery fitted last year by VX.

Two months ago the window would go down ok and when I wanted to put the window fully up it wouldnt work.

You would normal press up and hold for a sec and the window would go all the way up but that stopped and I use to have to press and hold the window button until the window was all the way.

Am on Holidays this week so it will give me some time to get it fixed

    Thanks again.

to get the window to go up with a short press of the button, open the window fully then press and hole the button to close it and hold for about 10 seconds after it's closed. then press and hold to open and hold for 10 seconds when fully opened and that should sort it
WHAT? AH! NO, I LOST IT
