    Another engine change

So in australia we have laws where you cant drive a turbo till your like 20 so i was thinking...

Sell my astra 4 door and by a 2 door astra , then do it up and over the next 2 years untill i can get a turbo look for a written off turbo astra and put that in the 2 door i buy?

What do you guys think? what would i have to watch out for?
    Be gentle please

That would be good idea there.
He can be good little project car for you have, but there is lot to do in engine swap!
Or keep 4 day, save money till 20 then you can always buy turbo car

I do like that law in Oz, not till 20, gives drivers oppurtnity to learn to drive and gain experience, but also im sure reduce insurance prenium!
Disclaimer - some of the above text may actually be sarcasm (believe it or not!)

i understand there is a alot to do a swap but i know people who do it for a living. if i bought a turbo when i was 20 then id have to spend time and money doing it up and i want it to look nice now! Being a "P" plater the insurance is really high so i cant even afford insurance. Thanks for your input!

Is it a blanket "you cant have a turbo" or is it based on Power output? If so thats a gash rule!

You can get n/a engines that woop out more power than many Turbo engines.

Here is what the government says

    ' High powered vehicle restrictions
A high powered vehicle restriction means that you are not allowed to drive what the law calls a “high powered vehicle” on a road.
    If you are:
    • under 25 and on your P1 or P2 licence
    • any age but on your P1 licence after being disqualified for an offence which happened when you were under 25
then it is against the law for you to drive a high powered vehicle on a road.
The law says that a high powered vehicle includes:
    • an engine that has a power output of more that 200 kW
    • an engine with eight or more cylinders
    • a turbo charged or supercharged engine (but not diesel powered engines).
You can apply to Queensland Transport for a certificate of exemption if you need to drive the high powered vehicle for work, study, medical treatment etc.
