    Need exhaust advice!

    Hi Guys,

The (standard) exhaust on 1998 Astra Estate (1.8 petrol) is not sounding too healthy! It's slowly getting noiser by the day and currently sounds like I have a V8 under the bonnet!

I took the car to a local tyre/exhaust place, and they reckon I need a new backbox (the connection from it to the center section of the exhaust is very corroded). They also said the center section of the exhaust needs to be replaced because it's blowing at the front of the car (even though it looks in good condition to me!).

I'm not bothered about upgrading the exhaust, I just want something pretty standard. How much should I be paying, and any advice on where to go would be appreciated? I got a price from Kwik-Fit, but they wanted £200 (back box and center pipe) which seemed expensive?

    Cheers

I live in Swindon and work in Bagshot, so either of these places would be cool.

Go for a stainless system like a Cybox one, they do one with an optional centre silencer, so it doesn't sound so intrusive but sounds nice never the less, and there is no need to worry about it rotting away

Cheers guys. In the end I went down to my local tyre/exhaust place and got a new back-box fitted for £70 which i thought was pretty good (Kwik-Fit wanted £100)?
