Opel Astra Rear Power Window Regulator

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct location for this thread. I own an Opel Astra Sedan. I just want to know if anyone recently had problems with their window cable snapping or derailing. I took off the rear door panel. My observations are that the Power window mechanism is definitely working. I just saw the cable loose and derailed from the plastic roller. And I can pull the window up and push it down.

Maybe someone who has done it themselves can give some tips. Will taking out the window regulator involve taking out the window itself or could I just tape it up in place. Need help as my window is currently down and held in place by sticky tape. Thanks for your help.

Hey, just got the exact same issue. Heard a 'bang' on my drive home this morning and the window fell open. i can see that the cable is derailed and the end isn't connected to anything. Does anyone know where the cable is supose to travel and where it connects to??

Try taking off the door panel on the other side, might give a good idea of how it's supposed to be?

Went into the holden spares this afternoon (Newcastle,Aus) and say that you cant buy the cable separately. The whole window regulator assembly was $380, so I went up the road and bought one from the wreckers for $50. now just got to drill out the old one and put this one in...

Same problem. window went bang & dropped, theres a plastic "clip" that holds the two cables that disintegrated..you can buy the repair kit easy enough (& cheap) on e-bay...fitting it was easy enough but winding the cables the right way before refitting is tricky to say the least.. taking the opposing door panel off wont help btw, unless your prepared to take the whole thing out you wont see much.
