    egr or lamba sensor?

    i have a mk4 astra 1.6 8v spi. the engine light comes on when doing 60-70 mph then goes off.iv pluged it in at work and it got the fault 'Exhaust gas resurculation sensor'. now im confused.is it the egr valve or lamba sensor?the car is runing a bit rough, no power below 2000 rpm and is jurkey when dringing along.any ideas would be great.thanks steve

    yes it is EGR valve , very common on the 8 valve, i had to replace twice on mine when i had it. symptoms are as you explain and the light often drifts on and off above 60 mph. you can try cleaning it out with carb cleaner or around £60 gets you a new one from someone like Autovaux

    blanked my egr off this morning. runs spot on now
