How to change an air filter on 1999 1.4 Vauxhall Astra

    Hi guys,

A buddy of mine told me changing the air filter might reduce fuel consumption.
I find my 1999 Astra is a bit of a thirsty beast at the best of time.

Does anyone have an idiots guide to changing an air filter fro a 1999 1.4 Astra Club and could I buy a replacement air filter for it in Halfords?
Anyone else have any fuel saving tips specifically for a 1999 Astra?

    Thanks!

Probably one of the easiest things to do.

Open bonnet, locate airbox to the left of the engine bay, undo the 4 clips holding the top of the air box on, lift the top part up enough you will have to move it to the side slightly, then you can remove the air filter just by lifting it out and placing the new one in, you can usually get the air filter from most car parts stores but halfords should have them as well.

As said above, Halfords sell them for about 7 quid!
