    Throttle Body idea..

Im removing my TB to give it a good dam clean, my idea is, if i got a dremel out and ground the inside bigger, would this be a good/ bad idea? or will it mess up the idling? would it help the air flow? would it allow more air in? or a complete waste of time?

Im no expert but i wouldnt if i was you. unless you really know what your doing. And from sounds, you dont. You could end up doing some damage. Just my opinion and its not meant to cause offence.

i remember on the x20xev i had, widening, and smoothing the lip off helped the engine ALOT, however i wouldnt just attack it with a dremel, not to sure but there must be certain parameters that have to be kept etc

now if only a certain person wasnt banned....... he'd have been able to tell u all u need to know (and lots of drivvle you didnt)

personally id advise against it - in theory it CAN be a good idea but in a rush which it sounds like it would be a very bad idea.

you need to match all the mating surfaces etc to get the best effect and not run too close to the butterfly etc.

In other words.....clean the TB, give it the once over then re-fit it

    Step away from TB!!!

There may be a raised section with a sharp lip in the middle of the TB that can be smoothed (there is on the ZLET TB) but as for enalrging it (without the use of machine shop facilities) I'd say no, don't do it.
The TB will still be narrowest where the butterfly sweeps/moves, unless of course you can make/find a new butterfly and adapt the spindle to suit.

All this work would entail taking the TB to bits which is pretty simple, but getting it back together is a balls ache of the highest order if its anything like the TB I stripped down!

Whatever you decide , just spend a long time looking at what want/need to to.

thanks for the advice, if i can pick on up cheaply, ill have it a look at it, strip it down, and take photo's etc so i can put it back together, might see if i can get a butterfly off of a 2.0 or something like that?
