Advice on a new socket set...

I currently have a woolworths £5 socket set, which has served me rather well. However recently I am running into problems because I don't have all the tools required.

The last scare with the rear suspension required a E20 bit, which I managed to lend from GB.

Is there such a thing as a complete tool set for the car mechanic? I am thinking about just getting a new ratchet and buying the socket strips separate.

What has everyone else got? And where did they get them. Are there any good offers on at the moment ...

I could always rely on Costco and get a bulk toolbox from there.

    Thanks,

    Neil.

Thats for that. I have some fairly decent spanners and other bits. I am only really after a socket set. I have been looking on machine mart and screwfix aswell.

The wife bought me a Halfords complete toolkit for crimbo last year and as well as many other things it came with a complete socket set and different adjustable heads and ratchets and stuff. Tis awesome and as Mark said lifetime warranty as well.

I think most people recommend Halfords Pro, they're definitely the cheaper Snap-on alternative from what I've read in the past and the lifetime guarantee is a great bonus.

I use both Snap On and Halfords Pro mainly, and there is no real diifference in quality tbh, you obv get a lil more with the snap on range, but halfords range is very much sufficient for anythink you will get need it for mate.

Lifetime warranty on both is good as well, just make sure you keep your receipt.
