How much oil is acceptable in the pipe between the standard intercooler and the inlet manifold/throttle body on the Z20LET??
You may remember my previous post about a friend that’s not had much luck with his MK4 GSI, well things are getting better but he came to me the other day saying he thought that I was burning a bit of oil.
When I looked at the car there was no sign of burning oil, no blue smoke etc.
So I took the inlet pipe of the car (the one between the outlet of the IC and the TB).
at the throttle body end there was just a very light film of oil, which I would expect but at the lowest point where it meets the IC there was a small pool of oil (tea spoon at the very most)...is this a little excessive or normal???
We cleaned the pipe out and took the car for a short drive, around 5 or 6 miles and then took the pipe off again and there was a small pool of oil again at the IC end of the pipe, not as much as before though.
Again it was only a small amount but I wouldn't have expected a pool to form that quickly.
Does this sound like the turbo seals are going???
