    Astra bertone 1.8 04 plate

Hello been enquiring about a bertone that i seen advertised and he says he had the ecu remapped at Thorney Motorsport but i thought these cars had 125 BHP as standard well at the fly wheel any way and i thought you normally lost about 10 BHP by time it got to the wheels so which would make it 115 BHP

But he showed me a print out of the BHP before it had the remap done on the rolling road and it came out as 103 BHP.
22 BHP is alot to lose? But when the remap was done it was pushing 127 BHP.

Or is the bertone different to the SRI and SXI engine and gearbox?

Also do astra 1.8 engines use abit of water?

I have an Astra Coupe 1.8 16v, BHP as standard should be 123BHP, whereas the 1.6 16v Coupe puts out 101BHP.

    I mean performance wise for a 1.8 16v I find they're pretty sweet 0-60 in 8.5 seconds can't be bad!

As for the water loss, as far as I know they shouldn't lose water- I mean think about it if it's losing water, where's it going?

Haven't really noticed too much wrong with this engine, I find it's a lot more relaible than the 1.6 16v they have in the SXi's, just check up when the timing belt was last done as it's due every 40,000

bertone is no different to the other engines you mentioned they just designed the coupe(I think) as the bhp am not sure but if rick says its 123 bhp as standard and the bloke says he is getting 127 bhp seems like a fair remap to me it is a n/a afterall
I would wright something funny and clever but does anyone read these anyway

    nope

the official figures were around the 99/100 bhp mark

although its reported Vauxhall marketed it approx 10bhp less than the actual so that it wouldnt rival their 1.8 models too much

1.8 on a 04 plate is the Z18XE which should be running circa 123bhp out the box

as for the claimed remap etc then i honestly dont believe certain tuners rolling roads and would take this with a very large pinch of salt

you'll need to drive it to see if it pulls better than standard etc and whether its worth more than any other model in terms of driveability etc
