    Wiper linkage?

Hi men and ladies this is my first post and I hope you can help me out. The wipers of my 1999 g-type astra have started to park in the middle of the windscreen. Im think they have sliped on the linkage because if I push them back manualy when I start the car they return to the middle of the windscreen without me touching the stalk. Anyway could someone tell me how to take off the wiper arms? Then I should be able to remove the plastic cowling and get at the linkage, Iv done a search on here already but faild to find the information I need. Thanks in advance for any help.

More likely the motor has failed - there's a sensor inside the motor unit which determines the self-park position.

If you want to try moving the arms then just pop the plastic cover off the base of the arm, undo the nut, fiddle with the arm until it comes off then re-seat and tighten the nut again.

yes new motor's are quite expensive affairs, there was someone on here a couple of months ago with a problem like yours, also on an Astra G. They look the motor appart and fixed the sensor, however, you could go to a scrap yard and get a replacement motor, it should take all of about 20 minutes to get them off. So far I've done 2 on my mk3 astra, so I'm pretty good at it now, lol
Probably the ONLY Astra Mk3 sitting on Corsa D SXI rims!

Yeah you did help mate, mine were normal thread (right hand). I had to replace the motor last year and got one in a scrap yard but paid a mechanic to fit it. I have more time off than work this year so my mechanic is going to loose my custom unless I dont have the tools for the job and Iv got a lot of tools.
