    Exclamation Cam Belt

    Hi Again!

Quick question, I bought my Astra (1.6 SXi) a year ago and it has just come round to its 70k service (which is being done today) they have advised that they couldn't find out when the Cam Belt had been changed... and I can't remember....
Is there anyway I can tell by just looking? I don't mind paying for it to be done as its better to be safe, but wouldn't want to spend if I didn't have to.

    Cheers Guys

    Otis

No there is way of telling just by looking at it. If you dont know when it has been done is better to play on the safe side and get it done

as above, there isn't an real way of checking, so its better to be on the side of caution and get it done anyway

the Cambelt on my Isuzu Turbo Diesel was £86 inc VAT when it was done September of last year, though I'm lucky that the water pump is driven separately, hence the cheapness

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for your replies, I thought that might be the case but you have to make sure with these things.

The garage I use has quoted (with fitting) £165 for the whole Cam Belt kit.. would you say this is a good price? Also if there are any Vauxhall specialists out there reading this and would like to quote please feel free too quote. (Live in Essex).

I didn't realise they need replacing every 40,000 miles.

    Thanks again guys!
