    suspension question...

ok i know that the coil springs for mk4 and coupe are interchangable, but got another question, i bought some jamex springs a while back which were never fitted. these are for a 1.4 (so i'm told to believe lol) and its supposed to lower by 40mm

If i were to put them on my coupe 2.0l (turbo if that even makes a difference lol) how much more lower would it actually go? I take it i'll also need to uprate the shocks too. Just don't see the point in getting coilovers now when i can just use the springs that were never used in the first place

I dont think the spring would be strong enough to take the weight of the turbo engine mate... They would just snap and give in after a few thousand miles.

You need to flog them on and get yourself a set to match the kerb weight of your new car..

Ive just had a look on their site aswell... 60/40 springs are all the same but the lower ratio ones (such as 40mm which monkeyboy has) all have specific engines linked to them further through the list which makes me think they may not be as strong.

May be worth getting the part number and checking with a dealer that sells these springs..

i bought it from online auto sport, and there isn't an option on the site that says 1.4. Instead it gives the option for
    1. Hatch up to 40mm
    2. Hatch up to 60mm
    3. Coupe up to 40mm
but no option for a 60mm for the coupe lol..... Might give him a ring tomorrow and see if it'll be safe to use them i guess, do a little more research at least before i sell them.

Rang the person up today, and he says that the springs will be able to hold the extra weight, but it will probably be 55mm instead of 40mm, i did ask him would they be more likly to snap. and he says no as they're pretty strong springs. Looks like i'll need uprated shocks first though :P
