    help with gearbox cant find nipple

    does any 1 know where the nipple is on the gearbox so i can top up the oil... ive got a 2001 astra bertone

    the 1.8 petrol has the f17 box and is filled up through the reversing light apperture, wipe around it so it is clean, remove the reverse light switch and fill until oil runs from the level plug, job done mate

    here's how Jimcoupe. The reversing light switch sits on top of gearbox towards front of housing( plunger type switch with wires coming from it), undo this and underneath car ( best up on axle stands as level as you can get it). the level plug is located at the side of the inner joint of driveshaft where it enters gearbox, it will look like a normal (13mm i think) bolt head. undo this and back up top attach a pipe to your filling up bottle and feed the oil into the box through the reverse light switch opening, until oil flows from below through the level plug, when it does, tighten plug back up, re-fit light switch in top of gearbox, connect wires back to switch and that's it mate

    wicked thanks mate i will give it ago as im finding it hard to get into gears aswell hope this works
