    1.8 / 2.2 convertible

Right, I need a new car!!

Have been toying with the idea of getting a smartish diesel saloon but am really not convinced and am struggling to find the right car (hence being up for the last few hours on autotrader lol).

I've got a tuned astra coupe turbo and love the looks of the car and the speed but hate the fuel, insurance, tax bills etc.

I'd also quite like a convertible so am thinking along the lines of a 1.8 / 2.2 cab. I've found a 2.2 up for sale near me for £3,995 02 reg dark blue with black leather - looks really smart imo.

So just want some info on the car really - mainly running costs and stats.
I've looked on parkers but always helps to get info from people who use the car on a daily basis,

    0-60 times?

    Average mpg?

    Tax for the year?

    Insurance costs expensive?

    Things to look out for?

Any info would be appreciated - Im goin to have a look at this one tomorrow and hopefully make a purchase in the next week

Hi. Funny you mentioned this, I saw friend last night that hadnt spoken in a few years.. and he had convertible. Now we were discusing engine size etc.

Hes male, works for UPS and lives around Bury St Edmunds suffolk.
He looked at both 1.8 & 2.2 engine. He said performance wise there was nothing between the 2 engines, same acceleration, top speed etc, but 2.2 had tiny amount more power.
the 0 to 60 times are the same,
MPG and pretty much the same
Tax I think would be £215?? ish off top my head (i have 1.8 hatch 02 plate)
Insurance on 1.8 was £200 cheaper a year than a turbo was, and 2.2 was extra £20 a year on the 2.2
He also mentioned some of the later models on the 2.2 had a 6 speed engine as this is the same engine they used on the 2.2 vectras with the 6 speed, so could look out for this?
1.8 is cambelt and needs changing every 40,000 miles
2.2 is chain driven i think, and needs changing every 80 or 100k

    Hope that helps a bit
Disclaimer - some of the above text may actually be sarcasm (believe it or not!)
