    Oil in DV

    Hi guys.

Was in the engine bay (z20let) yesterday fiddling about and noticed my Dump Valve had a tiny amount of oil sitting in it (Trumpet one). When I make it dump, no oil sprays out, but when turned off, you can feel a tiny amount of oil residue is there.

Turbo (VXR Unit) is only 6000 mls old. Is it on the way out?
Or could someone explain what's happening?

You will always get a little due to the crankcase ventilation system, if you arn't actually losing any oil then I wouldnt worry about it (or you can do away with the crank vent clean up everything and see what happens.

Sounds like turbo failure to me, firstly i'd take the precat off and feel for any play and inspect hoses for where the oil seems to be orginating from, most likely going to be the turbo but if the turbo looks and feels okay it be worth getting a compression (leakdown is better) test done.

You will always get a little oil in the intercooler pipes as it blow by from the turbo which then is spat out of the dump valve. I wouldn't worry to much unless it starts drinking a load of oil more than a litre every 1000miles, these are vauxhall stated figures.

the crank case vent pipe goes straight into the crossover pipe so its always going to happen, plus the little crank case breather pipe with the one way valve in it goin to the the throttle body always blocks up, pull it off and see if you can blow through it if you cant its blocked, just get a pin and unblock it at the throttle body end

Very good point mate, the little hole in the throttle body always blocks up as its a pin hole. What a crap design they should have made it a couple of mm at least.
