Just in 2nd? Mine did this a few weeks ago - fine one day, bad the next, fine for a few days, another bad day then fine ever since. Made sure I gave it some serious revs which I am guessing cleared out whatever the fault was - most likely some muck in the EGR valve or possibly the throttle body. If you are up for it, give these a good clean, there should be a guide around on here somewhere.

Some serious revs is the cure for many problems

youd be mad to ignore the advice given by nry above

EGR and TB should really be the first port of call with problems like you have

cheap and cheerful and easy to do. £3 for a tin of carb cleaner from a local motor factors - a clean rag and 30mins and ur sorted.

guides in how-to section if u cant work it out already

get it done!!! its routine maintenance that needs to be done on these engines

The amount of crud that builds up is quite astonishing. Just have a look and you'll be suprised! You'll then feel much better knowing you gave it a good clean. Then your mind makes your car feel a lot faster and run better too. Which is another bonus!!
