Anyone in/near Lincoln that could help me fit my sub??

    Hey guys,
as per title - having a struggle fitting my sub.
Got a wiring kit for my head unit and taken out the back speakers and replaced them with the sub leads..

    I need help with
    - the power lead, getting it from the battery to the boot
    - the blue lead(??) where does it go

Was wondering if anyone could meet up with me and help me sort it out.

    Many thanks,
    ad

The blue lead is for the remote - which connects from your HU to the amp (this tells the amp to switch on)

What HU do you have ?
What Sub/Amp do you have ?

What do you mean replaced speakers with sub leads ?

If you're just adding a sub, there's no need to remove rear speakers (unless you have 6x9s in the parcel shelf)

Oh, my headunit is a Kenwood KDC-241SA. It doesn't have pre outs so I got a wiring kit which you use the rear speakers and wire in the red/white amp leads.

    I'm unsure about sub/amp its a package I think. It's a VRX400 amp I think..

Yea I know what the blue is for.. I just don't know where it goes :s there isn't another blue wire coming out of the wire bits. There is a blue one with a stripe and it says something on a little label (it's not attached to anything) but it doesn't say remote. I was hoping that was the remote though..

But I still don't know how to get the power lead into the car.

I'm in Leicester and have done a few sub set ups. If you need a hand and fancy the drive (not too far) let me know.

You need to run the blue wire from the head unit, your head unit will not have a dedicated output for this (as there is little point considering it has no pre-outs). Best bet is to splice with the +12Vdc output for the aerial amplifier (it's on the ISO power block, blue in colour). I would also recommend putting the speaker-line level converter behind the headunit and running the RCAs up to the boot (typically you can get 2x RCA with blue wire included). In this manner, if you come to upgrade the head unit to one with pre-outs, less work is required. It also saves you dismantling the rear speakers.

Also please remember to fuse in the appropriate places.

EDIT: The spare wire dangling off your headunit will be the tel. mute for a hands free kit and you should find that if you take it to earth (touch the metal chassis), your headunit will not output sound and will display 'mute' or 'phone'

EDIT further: The power lead will need to be ran from the battery through a spare grommet in the firewall. A quick search of this forum/stickies should tell you where one will be available. Once you're into the car it's just a case of lifting trim pieces and cable tieing/clipping it all in.

I'd happily help you but your situation sounds confusing to me, you say ur H-U doesn't have pre-outs?

    Maybe some pics might help

Hey, this has now been sorted

WillAstra helped me out, was fairly easy in the end. Drilled through from behind glovebox.. I'd already done the rest of the wiring stuff. Good work, loving the bass
