    Air cons packed in - has been re-gassed

    For a few months my air con hasnt been working, and now i need it more than ever.

    Been down to quick fit and had it re-gassed. There arent any leaks and the re-gass was successful apparently. But it still blows hot air out.

    the guy tested the unit with a 12v live and the unit doesn't seem to get up and running. When i hit the AC button the revs rise ever so slightly but still i get hot air.

    Any Idea's?

    Surely anything can be fixed on a car, depending on how much money you're willing to chuck at the problem??

    As for the clutch, i had that problem on my old Escort IIRC. A wire had broken. Had it connected up & job sorted. Probably not the cause of your problem, but i guess it could be a minor thing like mine was, just as easily as it could be a costly thing?

    ^^ hardly helpful

    I assume fuses/relays have been checked Asim? Have you got a multimeter to hand too, could be worth putting it across the compressor to see if there's power getting to it - would tell you if it were something like a break in the wire...

    assuming there's no break in the wiring, or a duff fuse/relay etc, then I'd be inclined to agree, given the age of the car and the likelihood it isn't/wasn't used very often.

    checked the compressor by bypassing a 12v live to it, it still doesnt work, the standard 12v wire shows current when AC is turned on, so nackered compressor i think,

    are they expensive? my only quibble is fitting it as its on the timing belt

    Prices differ on the bay;

    That's why I'm holding off replacing mine. As the belt has to come off might as well do it at the same time as the kit and water pump.

    Just open the windows for now mate.
