    Alternator Issues

I have recently bought a 2001 Astra Estate 1.7 DTi ( Isuzu engine ). The battery light came on today and the power steering doesn't work. I took it to a main dealer ( who wanted £86 to look at it ! ) and the guy said it will be the alternator.

My question to you gentlemen is this - does the problem sound like it is the alternator and if so can anyone recommend a decent motor factor to get one from. I spoke to a guy at Rotary Electrics ( ? ) off ebay and he quoted me £100. The part number he gave me does not match the part number I took off the unit ( 93178173 14v 70 amp ) but he said a B487 100 amp would be O.K ? I'm not convinced.

    Help !!!

could be, have you had any other problems electrical related?

Check the battery see if there is any voltage over it and not rele you need a 70Amp one. Though i got one for my dads not long ago an dit wasnt that expensive, ill find the link and let you know mate.
