I see a lot about average miles this and average miles that and I think to myself... what is this average mileage based on? Average between a fleet/executive car and your average person driving to the shops every week?
I think this whole average miles stuff is a load of crap. Every car I see has "less then average miles". Surely this alone says that the average should, infact, be lower. Personally when I see cars for sale I decide whether the miles on the clock are 'average'. I base this on no more then 10k miles a year. Only 1 person I know racked up more then this in 1 year and he drives everywhere. Infact he drives quite a distance to work and back and is always out driving when he's not working.
Now the people on this site strike me as car enthusiasts. So one would presume we all spend a fair amount of time in our car. So. Just out of interest, how many miles have you put on your clock since you bought your car. Also, how many years and months have you owned your car for? It would be interesting to see our average miles a year as car 'enthusiasts'.
To get the ball rolling I've owned my car for 2 years and 4 months and have put 20k miles on the clock. This works out at roughly 8.6k miles a year.
My friend has owned his car for 2 years and 2 months and has put 33k miles on the clock. This works out at 15.2k a year.
My sister has owned her car for 1 year and 3 months and has put 5.5k on the clock. This is a low 4.4k a year!!
Would be very interesting to see everyone elses!
