    Squeaky wheel when turning

    Hi AOC

I seem to have developed a rather strange problem with my car.

    Astra G 2000(X) 1.6 LS

Whenever i turn, left or right, my left front passenger wheel squeaks. It squeaks at different pitches dependant on how fast or slow the wheel turns, which leads me to believe that its on the brake or something.

    Problem is....

It doesn't happen if i go straight. there is no noise at all, however the minute i turn the wheels it comes back...

Anyone know what this could be??

    Thanks,

    Paul

My gut feeling is a wheel bearing, but i'm sure it would make a noise going straight too. I have read on here that some brake dust cover can bend and rub on the disc, but without taking the wheel off i wont be sure its that. I wanted a step for a hint before i do that

im going to take off the front wheels tmorow and check for stones or anything that might be making the squeeking. But am optimistic.

Hilarious thing about this problem is that i've heard 5 other astra's pass me today with squeaky wheels, so it must be quite common.

I'm taking it to the garage on saturday to get it checked out..

Just an update for anyone who may be having this problem. I seem to have fixed it.

There is a metal plate at the back of the disc i think its a dust plate, and it was sitting right on the surface of the disc. So much so that i'll need new discs now because there's some bad scoring along the inside of the disc.

On searching i've read this is common and you just need to bend it back away from the disc. mine was so rusted that it all broke away in my hand lol

    New discs please ebay hahah
