    MK4, tacho and elec power steering dies???

    Hi, I have an 03 plate astra estate, every now and again the rev counter stops working and at the same time the power steering pump stops too, any idea`s as to why? any common links with these 2 electricaly?

    I had a similar problem with my SRi a while back...

    My rev counter would go mental and the warning lights would all flash randomly and the power steering went dead.

    Turned out it was the voltage regulator on the alternator which was buggered... new alternator and problem solved.

    No its not a diesel, sorry should of mentioned its a 1.6 petrol, I have had a multimeter in the cigarette lighter for a while now and the voltage does not fluctuate, normally stays around 14v while running, any other ideas please... anyone?

    lad at work had a derv van G and his powered steering and clocks would stop working fixed it with a new alternator

    They are on the same circuit, have you tried checking the fuse? No. 23 IIRC

    If the plug behind the clocks is lose the pas wont work.
