i-Phone contracts .. have i got a good one or is there better out there?

right i know theres been loads of threads about the iPhone etc and heres another.

all im after is a quick summary of the 3G vs 3GS

I went to my O2 shop and found out im due a renewal so I think i'll probably go for an iPhone
I had been in a couple of weeks before asking about one and i asked if a new one would be out soon ... i was told "no not at all it'll be at least another a year.."

glad I didn't sign anything then!

Anyway I've asked about the 3G and have been quoted on a £35 a month contract I get the phone free with the 24 month contract. or have to pay around £100 if i want it on the 18 month contract....
    its the 8gb iphone btw

has anyone got a better deal on their iphone?

I don't think £35 a month is too bad, but tbh i was expecting more considering the 3G has been superceeded

My current £35 per month contract is 600mins and 1000texts

before anyone says i've also looked at the HTC magic and they are good but theres so much more out there for the iPhones ..

    anyways post away!!!

    thanks

iphone 3g and 3gs - not much difference, just an updated software package which contains a few new extras:

    http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/index.html

i am currently on the £35 a month contract, 600 mins 500 texts, unlimited web usage (definately needed), and then unlimited o2 to o2 calls which are a bolt on for £7.50 extra a month. never go over either, am always within my limits

3GS has over and above the 3G's features:

    A compass
    Voice Control
    Faster interwebs
More ram and a faster processor
    A video camera

If you want to upgrade early, it depends on how much you spend per month. I can upgrade 6 months early, but I average £120 per month.

For 35 quid that's not a bad contract.

    hmm
the 3gs is tempting, i would like one but i dunno if its 100% worth it. a

compass would be good for all the exploring i do ...
video camera for my happy slapping memories ...
and voice control, because " look! no hands NO HANDS!"
    lol

I dunno why i rip it. I woudl love all of that stuff!

the other question i have is that now the 3GS is out will the apps in the app store just get made for the 3GS and it fast cpu and ram?

Well they both use the same operating system, so the only difference would be that the apps will run faster on the 3GS, and some apps will make use of the additional hardware features that aren't present in the 3G.

I'll give it to you simple:

    Leave you contract.
Sign up and transfer your number to o2 simplicity contract + get the web data bolt on, it is free on simplicity

Then pay for the iPhone upfront.

Will work out cheap. only thing that doesn't work on simplicity is visual voice mail.

I'm on 35pm contract + unlimited txt bolt on = 42.50. Waste of money.

Simplicity will be more than enough £20pm + 600mins + 1200txts + unlimited web data bolt on = £20. iPhone the will be whatever price you get it on ebay for. iPhone 3g = 200-260 atm.

I know it may sound silly but if you know someone that works for McDonalds then you can use them for a useful discount of 30% off O2 contracts!

My brother works part time for them and I get my £45 a month contract for around £31 a month, which is good seeing as the cheapest iphone contract they do is £35!
