    whats the difference between the sleeve and flange fitment

    as the title says, im looking to get a catback exhaust system and ive seen a cobra backbox and centre pipe of ebay but i dont know what all this talk it about the different fitments. all i know is tht the backbox fits into these two rubber rings. my car is a x reg 1.8 sri

    One type has an expanded end the slides over the other pipe (sleeve type), and has a clamp round it.

    The other type has male and female flanges with a wire gasket between and bolts up with shoulder bolts and springs.

    they refer to how the backbox joins to the center section of the exhaust. The mk4 came with a flange joint for the bckbox, then in 2001 or there abouts, changed to sleve, no idea why, maybe cheaper to produce?

    either way, if you change the whole system from cat back it doesnt matter which fitment you get.

    by cat back you mean, centre silencer and backbox cz im planning on buying from exhaustsuk a cobra backbox and centre pipe without the silencer, so this should be ok. also any ideas how this will sound cz im after a loud system
