    Better sound quality

    Hi guys,

I'm really a noob when it comes to ICE, never really been that big on it as I normally just prefer the sound of a tuned engine lol.

I've got a Siemens NCDR 1100 (i think) head unit which is the one with Sat nav so haven't changed it to aftermarket one cos I don't want to lose satnav. I really wanted a better sound quality though so bought some FLI intergrator 6 (210 watts) front speakers a few weeks ago. Don't know if these are good speakers or not but have noticed only a slight improvement over the standard ones. I need more bass!

Would I notice much difference if I changed the head unit? If so I'll lose the satnav and buy a decent HU. Or can someone recommend some decent front speakers that will give a good bass punch? Any advice welcome really...

I'm pretty much a newbie to with everythign mate but I would say if you want more Bass from your music then the front speakers are probably not the ones to upgrade, Components speakers etc will tend to take car of Mod and Treble, Maybe try and pick up some 6*9's for the back or you really want some Bass Bumping then it would have to be a Sub and Amp in the boot sort of set up I would think! I could be wrong but i'm sure plenty of other people will have some suggestions to help you.

You need a sub for some decent base mate. You can get amplifiers with a line input, so the amp will run off the wiring for the rear speakers. This means you will lose the rear speakers, but gain the base of a sub, well worth it.

A proper HU with aux outputs will give much better control over the sound, and you would be able to keep your rear speakers working as well, but is it worth losing the sat nav for that privilege?

As an alternative you could consider keeping your sat nav unit but also fitting an aftermarket head unit in the tray bellow the heating controls. It would take a little rewiring but nothing too difficult for someone who knows what they are doing.

    ^^^

    Not a bad idea

Run the nav to the rear speakers and replace the headunit for one that powers the front and a added sub. Mike Warner did it in his coupe
