    Blanking off an EGR valve

Hiya, is there any benefit in removing and blanking off the EGR valve on an 2003 1.6 8V?. I've already replaced it once and have read that it is possible and also make changes to the ECU apparently?
    Any feedback?

Mine was utterly seized on my 2001 1.6 auto...I spent a few hours with a big vice, some big stilsons, a hammer, a blowtorch and threats to revive it. It's now on the car, but not in it's original place as I've blanked it off. The valve now sits suspended by 1 bolt to one side of the blank.

It's shut up the warning light, and so far I have to say it feels a lot smoother and willing to rev. Coming from an X16SZR to a a Z16SE, I was very scathing about the engine...it seemed so much of a slug compared to the older variant in my MK3..now it's much happier.
    2000 Z16SE Automatic Astra-G, bog standard. Last owned a '97 X16SZR Auto Astra-F, sadly missed.

If it's not causing any issues then leave it alone . . . Quite simple really.
