    Odd problem, toughts please.

    Hi guys,

Well ive got another odd problem today, i noticed a very odd sound.

It sounds abit like a clicky / grinding / rattly sound when driving down the road, now i noticed while the car is still moving if you press the clutch in, or pull it out of gear the noise dissapears? As you let the clutch back up you can hear it come back in and come back up to speed.

I haven't had chance to even have a look at it yet, but the noise is very odd, not over loud but especially when it echos back off walls etc you can hear it quite easily.

I originally thought hub failiure, meat from the pads having come detached etc etc but none of these would add up as when the drive is took away the noise dissapears...

Seems to make no difference what gear i'm in, so i'm doubting it'll be the gearbox, but i guess its still possible it could be this...

Ideas please? anyone had anything simillar?

Thanks for any helps and input.

    Cheers.

Damn will be totally gutted if it turns out to be this.

Its failed very early in life aswell, its only done approx 11-12k max.

Can anyone see it being a problem other than just being noisy? or will it fail after a few k more?

Fairly big job to replace i know

    Thanks for the replies though.

If its the clutch release bearing then surely other than failiure, can't cause any other real issues?

The problem ive got is, the garage has another car in it, so i can't get mine in to work on it at the moment...

As we all know, going to be a pretty big job all in all, then got the issue i'm on holiday in 3 weeks so need my car on the road for then

To be hopes its either something else or it holds out.

What car is it? Have you lowered it at all?

I had an inner CV gaitor split and was all ok and only rattling on full lock.

Now since iv lowered it, it rattles in 1st and 2nd when accelerating lightly, but if i drive it hard the load on the CV joint takes the noise away!

    Just thought id mention it

if there is a humming noise when the cars out of gear and clutch is not pressed, but this stops when the clutch is pressed in, then im 100% sure it will be your release bearing.
