    mx-5 knowledge

    Planning on buying a mark 1 mazda mx5, no sniggering thanks!, anybody had one or know anything i should be looking for specifically when i go to look at one trouble wise? i have heard they are fairly bullet proof but guessing rot is gonna be the main concern!

    the only thing i know of to look for is when the brake lines have been done recently and if they were swapped out with upgrade reinforced ones - i hear this is a common-ish issue (granted i only know 2 ppl with them lol)

    personally as a rag-top lover, i would be scrupulous with the roof, and make sure it aint been snaggin anywhere, telltale lighter patches for that one and that the mech goes down smoothly and isnt jerky

    cheers for the advice! top forum! the reason i'd like a mx 5 is i drove one a while back and was amazed at just how well it drove really responsive and the steering and gearbox was the definition of precise! it was only the 1.6 but that seemed enough, the only thing is i'm over 6 foot tall so it is pretty snug inside to say the least my right knee is kinda stuck in between the steering wheel and the door so maybe a smaller steering wheel may be needed!
