    CNAME & fasthosts help please...

Ok, so i have a website..

    www.example.co.uk

The website shows the extension, i.e. www.example.co.uk/downloads.html

    then also have a forum...

    forum.example.co.uk

But this is a fixed web address (sub-domain) pointing to inivision free forums.

It says i need to set a CNAME to show the extensions i.e. forum.example.co.uk/index.php?showforum=25

But fasthost who host my domain name dont offer a CNAME service.

Any ideas? or where i can host my domain name.

I host the site at home.

    Thanks in advance.

Damn it I forget where my domain is hosted lol.

The way I have it setup is:

    buy some webhosting mate.

    £2-£3 a month.

from here http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml (very reliable host used them for years)

then you change your domain name servers to point to hostgators.
then you use hostgator to control you domain.
then you will be able to setup as many sub domains as you want and need. So your forum will work fine.

add me to msn if u want to know more
Well at least I think you would, in fact you'd host your forum your self!

My housemate could sort you out, he runs a webdesign company, his hosting is £3.21 per month, and there's an AOC Discount code:

    ASTRAOWNERS

which will get you 20% off that as well.

    The web address is http://www.magdesign.co.uk

Hosting your site at home on a broadband connection will make it veeeeeeeery very slow!

PM me if you want some help!

You don't need to pay anything else.

You need to change your nameservers to managed ones that you can manage and just have them redirected to the correct locations.

If you're at a lost, give me a shout and you piggy-back onto mine.
